About us

Kyburg Wine Estate is the realisation of our long-cherished dream to produce grapes for top quality wine.

In 1998 we acquired a 27 ha farm in the picturesque Devon Valley, near Stellenbosch. We, Fred and Rosmarie Ruest, named the farm after a castle, Kyburg, which overlooks a small historical village situated in the vicinity where we both grew up in Switzerland.

After a period of replanting vines best suited to the terroir we produced the first wine bearing the Kyburg label in 2006.
